The iX3’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Gravity doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the iX3 are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Gravity doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the iX3’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The Gravity doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

The BMW iX3’s optional Surround View has integrated front and rear camera washers, ensuring clear, all-weather visibility without the need for manual cleaning. In contrast, the Lucid Motors Gravity lacks camera washers, requiring you to manually clean the cameras for optimal performance.

The iX3 has standard BMW Assist, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Gravity doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the iX3 and the Gravity have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all-wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The iX3’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Gravity’s (12 vs. 10 years).

BMW pays for scheduled maintenance on the iX3 for 1 year and 12000 miles longer than Lucid Motors pays for maintenance for the Gravity (3/36,000 vs. 2/24,000).

There are almost 8 times as many BMW dealers as there are Lucid Motors dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the iX3’s warranty.

The iX3’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Gravity’s standard 50 series front tires. The iX3’s optional tires have a lower 35 series profile than the Gravity’s optional 40 series front tires.

The BMW iX3 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 850 pounds less than the Lucid Motors Gravity.

The iX3 is 9.9 inches shorter than the Gravity, making the iX3 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The iX3 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Gravity doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the iX3’s rear seats recline. The Gravity’s middle row seats don’t recline.

The iX3 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Gravity doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Gravity, the iX3 has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, power steering assist, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

If the windows are left open on the iX3 the driver can close all of them at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Gravity can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the iX3 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Gravity doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the iX3 has a standard rear wiper. The Gravity doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The iX3’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Gravity’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

When the iX3 is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Gravity’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The iX3’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Gravity has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.
