Compare the2026 BMW iXVS 2025 Lotus Eletre

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The iX has a standard Active Park Distance Control that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Eletre doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

The BMW iX’s optional Surround View offers available integrated front and rear camera washers, ensuring clear, all-weather visibility without the need for manual cleaning. In contrast, the Lotus Eletre lacks camera washers, requiring you to manually clean the cameras for optimal performance.

Both the iX and the Eletre have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The iX comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The Eletre’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The iX comes with free roadside assistance for 4 years unlimited miles. BMW will send help if you run out of gas, need a jump-start, lock your keys in or need any assistance on the road. Lotus doesn’t give free roadside assistance for the Eletre.

The iX’s corrosion warranty is 4 years longer than the Eletre’s (12 vs. 8 years).

BMW pays for scheduled maintenance on the iX for 3 years and 36,000 miles. BMW will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Lotus doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Eletre.

There are over 9 times as many BMW dealers as there are Lotus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the iX’s warranty.

The iX M70’s standard electric motors produces 85 lbs.-ft. more torque (811 vs. 726) than the Eletre’s electric motors.

For greater off-road capability the iX has a 1.2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Eletre (8.8 vs. 7.6 inches), allowing the iX to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The BMW iX may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 300 pounds less than the Lotus Eletre.

The iX is 5.4 inches shorter than the Eletre, making the iX easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The iX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Eletre with its rear seat up (35.5 vs. 24 cubic feet). The iX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Eletre with its rear seat folded (77.9 vs. 54 cubic feet).

Maximum trailer towing in the Lotus Eletre is limited to 4960 pounds. The iX offers up to a 6834 lbs. towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Stabilization Control on the iX uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Eletre doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

A Condition-Based Service Display is standard on the iX to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for vehicle inspections, vehicle inspection based on actual driving conditions. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lotus doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Eletre.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the iX has a standard rear wiper. The Eletre doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Laser headlights, optional on the iX, produce their light by firing blue lasers through phosphorus, a process that uses one-half the power of the Eletre’s LED headlights. Laser headlights can have double the range of LEDs with a much smaller surface area.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the iX has standard extendable sun visors. The Eletre doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The iX’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Eletre has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.
